Can ayurvedic capsules for weight gain darken facial skin?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 20-year-old male. My height is 5 feet 9 inches, and my weight is 123.46 pounds. I had taken Ayurvedic capsules for weight gain. As a result, I had a good weight gain; however, my face has become darker after using the capsules. What should I do now?

Please advise.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

There are no ayurvedic medicines that cause side effects like turning the face darker. What are the ingredients of the capsule that you have used? I suggest you stop the medicine and follow the below steps:

1. Wash your face with neem leaves water or neem face wash and apply Kumkumadi lepam (Saffron, Aloe vera, Sandalwood, Turmeric) twice a day.

2. Drink plenty of water and avoid spicy and fried junk foods.

3. Protect your face from direct sunlight.

4. Do regular pranayana like anuloma vilom, nadi sodhan and bhramari.

Kindly follow the above tips and revert after 15 days.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
