Premature Baby

A normal pregnancy lasts up to 40 weeks. Any birth that occurs before 37 weeks is termed a premature baby. These babies have developmental defects causing breathing problems, heart problems, temperature control problems, problems associated with brain functioning, metabolism problems, vision impairment, cerebral palsy, etc. Premature delivery can be avoided with progesterone supplements, cervical cerclage, etc.
