Is it safe to feed solid food to a 10-month-old premature baby?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My baby is 10 months old, and he is two months premature. If I feed him with solid food, he vomits. Is it not safe for him to be fed with solid food?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I just read your query. I advise you to try giving some soft and semi-solid foods to your baby right now. Once he starts digesting these then move on slowly towards other food items. Moreover, some babies do not take solid food properly until they develop teeth. But if your baby does not digest semi-solid foods too, then you need to visit a nearby child specialist. Because it can be due to some other underlying cause that needs to be ruled out. I hope you understand my point.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
