How is early-stage multiple sclerosis treated in Ayurveda?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have early-stage multiple sclerosis. I have been experiencing fatigue, loss of concentration, and a tingling sensation on my face for the last two years. What is the treatment? I am currently taking Ibuprofen.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

To manage your early-stage multiple sclerosis, I suggest you visit the nearby Ayurveda Panchakarma center and start with the cleansing or detoxifying process. You can undergo Panchakarma therapy once a year. Additionally, begin a lifelong yoga practice, as yoga can help prevent degenerative changes associated with multiple sclerosis.

You should also take the following medications for one year:

  1. Tablet Rheumowin (containing amukkara chooranam, nagavanga chendooram, and kungilia parpam): Take one tablet in the morning and one in the evening after food.
  2. Tablet Nurowin (containing alpha-lipoic acid, selenium, etc.): Take two tablets in the morning and two in the evening after food.
  3. Capsule Rasa ganthi mezhugu (containing parada, gandhaka, and rasa karpoora): Take one capsule at night.

Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her, and take the medicines with take the medicines with their consent. These medications can be obtained from local Ayurvedic dealers or medical shops. You should have regular follow-ups with a local Ayurveda or Siddha doctor to monitor disease improvement.

Thanks and regards.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

Could you recommend any herbs that can be made into tea and consumed at home as an alternative to Ayurvedic drugs?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Since this disease is autoimmune-related and the condition may worsen in the future, it is important to consume polyherbal drugs for a long period to help prevent future complications. As a home remedy, you can use the following herbs:

  1. Tinospora cordifolia.
  2. Centella asiatica.

Purchase these two herbs. Take 0.18 ounces of each (a total of 0.36 ounces), mix them with water, and then heat the mixture over a mild flame. After 15 minutes, filter it and drink it. This should be consumed three times a day on an empty stomach (before meals). At a minimum, it is essential to take it at least twice a day. If you want to prepare enough for two servings at once, take 0.36 ounces of each herb (a total of 0.71 ounces) and add four cups of water. Heat the mixture gently for 15 minutes. Then, filter half of it to drink in the morning before meals. In the evening, reheat the remaining mixture for three minutes, filter it again, and drink it.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
