Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had my period four months ago and did not get it the following month. Then I took homeopathic tablets to get periods, and I started getting them by the middle of the next month from the month mentioned. I had hefty bleeding for ten days, then minimal bleeding. Still, my bleeding has not stopped. I have had frequent headaches for the past 10 to 15 days. The pain begins in my neck and spreads to my head. It appears and then disappears.

I consulted an ayurveda doctor yesterday because I prefer not to take allopathic medications. The doctor suggested to me Chandanoshiradi Kashayam two teaspoons morning and night for 15 days and Prasaranyadi Kashayam two teaspoons morning and night for 15 days. Then Raktastambam tablets twice daily for 15 days. And Suryaprabha Gullika once daily for 15 days. Also, Chandrakala Ras and Cervilon tablet once daily for 15 days. These are said to relieve my heavy menstrual bleeding and headaches in 15 days. I have to go for a review in 15 days. I would like to know if ayurvedic medicine is safe to use. Can you please tell me if these are the correct medications for my headache and menstrual problems? Will I have menstruation naturally after discontinuing these pills? Will any of these medications have any side effects?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

First and foremost, in ayurveda, as in allopathy, one medicine does not work for everyone. As a result, your ayurvedic physician will always advise you to take medication based on your Prakriti (physical constitution) and disease. When taken without advice and supervision, ayurvedic medications can be harmful. In your case, all these medicines are appropriate for your problem.

These medications will first correct your cycle, but if your doctor discovers a problem, he may prescribe you medication for an additional period. So, once your cycle is corrected, you will have regular menstrual periods. In the case of headaches, treatment may last two to three months, depending on the severity of the condition. So, take your medications regularly and eat nutritious, fresh, and home-cooked meals. Then, in a few months, everything will be fine.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
