Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 21-year-old female diagnosed with alopecia areata since last week. I have begun dermatologist therapy, but am wondering if Ayurveda can help. Is this condition permanent, or can it be treated? On my bald spot, I have noticed tiny hairs and roots in the past two days. I also suffer from irregular periods, hair fall, and pimples. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read the query, and I can understand your concern.

Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease where the body's cells attack and destroy other cells. The condition is treatable but takes time to regrow hair. It may take from nine months to 18 months. In Ayurveda, many medicines are prescribed for alopecia areata, which successfully cure it. As you have been taking allopathic treatment, I will only prescribe medicines, which you can take with allopathic medicines. I suggest the following:

  1. Take Capsule Bhringraj two capsules twice daily after food for four weeks.

  2. Capsule Giloy two capsules twice daily after food for four weeks. These will help you increase your immunity.

  3. Capsule Asthiposhak (Kukkutandatvak bhasma, Asthisamhruta, and Shuddha Laksha) two capsules twice a day with water after food for four weeks.

  4. Apply onion juice to the affected area with the help of cotton daily. Apply it before bathing and leave it for at least one hour, then wash it with mild herbal shampoo.

  5. Apply Mahabhringraj oil on your scalp one night before the hair wash.

  6. Do not tie your hair tightly.

  7. Do Anulom Vilom regularly.

  8. Avoid excessive tea, coffee, caffeinated drinks, and spicy food.

Do consult me after one month regarding improvement. Consult a specialist doctor, talk to them, and then take the medication.

I hope this will help you.

Thank you.

Regarding follow up

I suggest you follow up after one month.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
