What is the Ayurvedic treatment for fibroids?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 46 years old and have been experiencing heavy bleeding and very frequent urination for the past seven months. My sister-in-law, who is a gynecologist, recommended that I get a scan. The scan report revealed that I have uterine fibroids. She prescribed Tranexamic acid 650 tablets to manage the excessive bleeding, and I have been taking this tablet during my periods for the past seven months. She also suggested a hysterectomy, as she believes there is no other effective treatment in allopathy, but I am not interested in undergoing surgery.

While searching for alternatives, I came across a study conducted by an Ayurvedic doctor, which claimed that uterine fibroids were either cured or reduced in size by taking certain Ayurvedic medicines. I was intrigued and contacted the doctor via email. She prescribed specific medicines (details are listed at the end of this email), and I followed her instructions diligently. She also advised me to get two follow-up scans in subsequent months. I am attaching all three scan reports for your reference, but unfortunately, there has been no improvement in my heavy bleeding or frequent urination. In the meantime, the doctor was transferred to another Ayurvedic hospital, and I am now unable to reach her.

Currently, I am not under any medical treatment other than taking Tranexamic acid 650 tablets during my periods to control the excessive bleeding. After seeing your advice to a female patient with a similar condition, I feel hopeful again. I would like to ask you the following questions: Are uterine fibroids completely curable through Siddha medicine? I intend to consult only you, as I do not want to mix different streams of treatment. After reviewing my reports, could you please let me know how long it might take to get relief from the excessive bleeding and to fully cure the fibroids? Additionally, would it be possible to have a phone consultation with you?

Details of Ayurvedic medicines taken:

  1. Amycordial syrup: 5 ml for two months.
  2. Varanadi kashaya: 5 ml for one and a half months.
  3. Shigru guggulu: For two months.
  4. Kanchanara guggulu tablets: for 20 days.
  5. Nityananda Rasa tablets: For 20 days.
  6. Hingvashtaka churna: One teaspoon for 20 days.
  7. Haridra khand: Two teaspoons for 15 days.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have treated many cases of uterine fibroids. Most of the patients became asymptomatic, with a reduction in the size of the fibroid, and surgery was no longer necessary. The smaller the fibroid, the faster and more complete its disappearance. Medium to large-sized fibroids typically reduce in size, but symptoms tend to disappear within one month. However, these cases require six months of therapy. In your case, the fibroid is of medium size.

Please take the following medicines:

  1. Capsule Rasaganthi mezhugu: One capsule in the morning and one at night with buttermilk after meals.
  2. Tablet Chitthira moola kuligai: One tablet in the morning and one at night after meals.
  3. Van kumari legium (buy 7 ounces): take 0.17 ounces (one spoon) in the morning and evening before meals.
  4. M2 tone tablet: Two tablets in the morning and two at night after meals.

Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her, and take the medicines with take the medicines with their consent. In addition to these medications, follow these home remedies:

  1. Consume banana flowers fried or prepared in other dishes, twice daily.
  2. Buy Uthiya mara pattai and Naval mara pattai bark, 2.2 pounds each. Take 0.88 ounces of each and add eight tumblers of water. Boil it until it reduces to four tumblers. This is the kashayam. Drink one tumbler in the morning, one in the afternoon, and one at night on an empty stomach. If it is not possible to take the afternoon dose (due to work), take it in the evening.

Please try these medicines and herbal remedies for one month. If you do not notice any improvement, continue the treatment for the next three months. You may need three to six months of treatment. If there is no improvement after one month, I would advise considering surgery.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
