Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a yoga and meditation teacher. I lead a healthy life by exercising and having healthy home-cooked food (I will also include adequate spicy foods). I am following a diet according to what the ayurveda doctors have advised. I take a tablet of Dhootapapeshwar Triphala Guggul every day and try to take it in the morning with a glass of hot water, which I always have in the morning before drinking green tea. Still, I am constipated, especially when the weather gets too hot for my system and when I travel away to different places, I cannot cook my food. So it appears that, in my case, constipation is due to neurological disorders. I am highly vata and highly sensitive since I have lived a stressful life that started in the hands of a young mother who mishandled and verbally abused me from a very young age. Later, I started learning aikido, yoga, and tai chi chuan and started teaching these disciplines. My question is that since the cause of my problem is neurological, would you advise me to take Panchasakar Churna, Arogyavardhini Vati, and syrup Abhayarishtam? I also take a small spoon of Ashwagandha Churna in the morning along with my breakfast; should I take some of it at night too?

I would appreciate any help to get out of this ongoing ordeal of constipation which brings anxious thoughts to the point of suicide at times.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

As you have mentioned that you are extremely vata sensitive, aggravated vata causes stool dryness, leading to constipated bowel. Therefore, your diet should contain oil or ghee-like substances to manage this condition. I suggest you take (consult with the specialist doctor, discuss with him or her and take medicines with their consent) Brahmi Gritham syrup (Brahmi, Vacha, Kushta, Shankhapushpi) one teaspoon in the morning and evening on an empty stomach. Also, take Ashwagandha Avaleha (Manjistha, Haritaki, Haridra) one teaspoon in the morning with lukewarm milk and Kumaryasava syrup (Kumari Rasa, Haritaki, Dhataki flowers) one tablespoon twice a day after meals with equal amounts of water.

Take these medicines regularly for fifteen days and provide your valuable feedback.

Thanks and regards.
