How can anxiety and tension be treated through Ayurveda?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 24-year-old male. I have ordered Manasamitra Vatakam. What is the recommended dosage for mild anxiety and tension? Are there any possible side effects? Would you also recommend any mild medicine other than this, such as Ashwagandha? If so, please provide the dosage and brand name. Kindly suggest a recommended diet that helps restore calmness.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com. Sorry, I cannot offer any comment on Manasamitra Vatakam that was prescribed by another doctor.

However, for mild anxiety and tension, the following medicines are suggested for 15 days:

  1. Capsule Tagara (Valeriana wallichi) 250 mg, one twice daily. It should be taken half an hour after meals.
  2. Tablet Brahmi Vati, one twice daily. This should also be taken half an hour after meals.

Drink at least eight to ten glasses of water daily. Avoid alcohol. The above medicines have no reported side effects.

For a personalized diet plan, please send your personal details, including blood pressure, fasting and postprandial blood sugar levels, weight and height, current diet, exercise regime, and medical history. You can also drink green tea without sugar and milk.

Please follow up with an Ayurveda specialist after 15 days.

I hope this has helped you.

Thank you.
