Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am a 41-year-old female who recently has been experiencing acne breakouts sometimes, which are cystic-like. I believe it is due to poor diet and hormonal factors. I recently started taking beef liver supplements hoping they will be my savior.
I am also considering Spirulina, but both are high in vitamin A, which can be toxic. Can I take these supplements together, and if so, how?
Kindly suggest.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern.
Acne is a small eruption that occurs as a result of inflammation of the sebaceous gland. When it becomes infected, it may get converted into a large pus-filled cyst-like structure. If we know the exact cause and diagnosis, it can be managed naturally through ayurvedic medicines. Probable causes for your condition may be due to hormonal changes, intake of spicy and fried junk foods, stress, allergies due to chemicals, soap, face wash, and shampoos.
Differential diagnoses of this condition include acne, warts, small abscess, pimples, and cysts. The probable diagnosis would be acne or pimples. I would suggest you carried investigations like thyroid profile, USG (ultrasonography) abdomen to rule out PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease), and estrogen and progesterone levels.
According to Ayurveda Vaman karma is the line of treatment. It is a panchakarma therapy. But orally, I would suggest you take the following medicines after the advice of your physician:
I would suggest you avoid, curd, spicy, and fried junk foods. Protect yourself from direct sun rays. Avoid chemicals containing cream or ointment. Drink plenty of water.
Hope this helps.
Best regards.
