Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My mother is suffering from diabetes. The following are her blood sugar levels -

  • Fasting blood sugar - 322 mg/dL.
  • Post-parandial blood sugar - 387 mg/dL.

She has been taking insulin injections regularly twice before food. Kindly suggest medicine for her which will effectively reduce her blood sugar levels.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The increased blood sugar levels, despite taking insulin, indicate that your mother is not taking the appropriate insulin dose or may have become insulin resistant. Therefore, she must immediately consult her physician to modify her dosage or give different medications.

If you wish to take Ayurvedic treatment for this concern, you must do certain investigations and forward me the reports. You must under go kidney and liver function tests and lipid profile. As of now, she can take a decoction of Bilva leaves. Take five fully grown Bilva leaves and boil them in 13.5 fl oz water. Boil it until the water reduces to 3.5 fl oz, and strain the water. Consume half of this decoction in the morning and the rest in the evening, half an hour before food.

Monitor blood sugar levels regularly and provide your feedback.

Regards.
