Can Siddha medicine cure thyroid and ovulation problems?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am currently 39 years old and trying to conceive. My laboratory reports are: FSH is 23.23 IU/L, LH is 11.82 IU/L, and TSH is 4.50 mIU/L. I have taken Foleo M and Evadhea tablets for the past six months. In addition, I take the tablet Letrozole for five days from the second day of the monthly cycle. I also take FSH injections. My doctor says I need to take these hormone injections and medicines as I do not have much time left and need to conceive soon. However, I have lost hope now. Can I take Siddha medicines for thyroid and ovulation along with the current medication? Kindly advice.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Considering your age, Allopathic medications are better for conception. Siddha treatment takes a minimum of three months or even more in younger women. Hormones, including thyroid and reproductive hormones, ovarian health, and uterine endometrium, all should be taken care of. If any cysts or fibroid is there, that has to be considered. Your husband's semen quality needs to be maintained in the right values. Are your periods regular? Is the ovulation happening? Is the ovum of good quality? Are the fallopian tubes proper? So, Siddha treatment requires all these details.

All values or tests are normal in some cases, but pregnancy may not happen. In such a situation, we give a few drugs for three cycles. If you have diabetes or other issues, Siddha can manage that. If you are so particular about taking Siddha alone or combining it with Allopathy, proper follow-up is a must, as each month is crucial in your case.

Considering your age, allopathic treatments (intrauterine insemination and in-vitro fertilization) are better for conception. So now, based on your choice, I can help you.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Kindly suggest what tests I need to take. I would like to know if both Allopathic and Siddha treatments taken together will be of any help.

During my ultrasound scans, doctors did not tell me I had any cysts, fibroids, or fallopian tube blockages. I can get the tests done as suggested by you to get confirmation. I have an ovulation issue due to high FSH and low LH levels. Also, I suffer from a thyroid problem. Please advise.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The physician might have looked at all the issues during the scan. No need to do any new tests. From Siddha, I suggest you take the following medicines:

  1. Take Aloes compounds (Aloe indica, Balsamodendron myrrh, Rubia cordifolia, Peganum harmala, and Leptadenia reticulata) two tablets each in the morning, afternoon and night after food. This is to continue until pregnancy occurs. During periods days, no need to take the tablets.
  2. Narasimha legiyam one spoon morning and night after food. This is for two months only.
  3. Capsule Siddhadhi ennai (Calcium sulfate) daily one capsule before bed at night. During the first three days of the period, take three capsules in the morning at six am. During these three days, no need to take it at night. Continue this drug until pregnancy occurs.
  4. Consume urad dal (black gram) daily in any form.
  5. If your cycle is 28 days, add fenugreek (methi) preparation from 14 to 18 days.
  6. During the first three days of periods, take sesame sweets as snacks.
  7. Practice Nadi shuddhi pranayama for 15 minutes daily, two times on an empty stomach.

If you follow these suggestions, your uterus and ovary will get prepared for conception, hormones will be normalized, and there will be improved chances of getting pregnant during Allopathic treatment.

I hope that you get your answer.

Please let me know if you need any help.

Thank you.
