Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am an 18-year-old and my height is four feet 11 inches. I want to know if my height is too short. What to do?
Please help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern. I see that you are 18 years old and you have very little time to try new things. Because around 18 years the ossification in bones occurs. Ossification means diffusion of the growing end of the bone with the rest of the bone. As a result, the bones stop growing. As height of a person is usually determined by the two factors genetics (height of parents, or grandparents) and environmental factors. That means if your parents and grandparents are not very tall then you will be not tall as these affects your height too. The next thing that contributes to height is your diet and your physical activity. So, I suggest you follow the mentioned points which can help you increase your height if your bones still have time to be ossified then these things will have a positive outcome.
Try these regularly and you will see positive results. And you can come for a follow-up after one month. But one last and important thing do not ever allow your short height to come in your way of success and never underestimate yourself. There are many examples in the world where short-statured people have created history.
I hope I have cleared all your doubts.
Thank you.
