Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have had sebaceous cysts for five to six months. This is located on my back, exactly across from my chest. Right now, it appears to be ok. I am concerned about whether or not it will reappear in the future. If yes, is surgery the only option? or are there medications that may be used to treat without requiring surgery? Is there any Ayurvedic therapy available?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
A sebaceous cyst is a small, slow-growing bump. Usually, it is not harmful. Sometimes an infection may occur, and it may become painful. Face, back and shoulders, etc., are usual sites for the occurrence of cysts. See, one cyst has nothing to do with the occurrence of another cyst at another place or near the previous cyst. It may or may not occur depending upon various factors. As far as treatment is concerned, surgery is the only treatment. However, you can also try this Ayurvedic remedy. It is effective in some people but only in some, depending on the cyst. You can try this for one or two months if you are not ready for surgery or the cyst is not troubling you much. First, take a cloth, soak it in castor oil, and then place it over the cyst. Then with the help of a warm water bottle, do hot compressions over the cyst for ten minutes once a day. The bottle should be moderately warm, as a scorching bottle may lead to side effects. Do not press the cyst with force. Just do hot compressions with moderate force. Drink lukewarm milk with one teaspoon of turmeric added to it. Try all these things regularly; you can avoid surgery if you feel positive results. If you feel pain or inflammation, you can stop everything and consult a nearby doctor. Otherwise, do it as advised.
I hope I have answered your question.
