Are there any Ayurvedic medicines that help to manage PCOS/PMOS?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 25-year-old girl suffering from PCOS/PMOS for the last few years. For the first two years, I took birth control pills to regulate my periods. Later I switched to homeopathy, which was effective at first, but later on, I stopped getting periods for months, even with the homeopathic medicines. I have stopped all medications now.

I am currently trying to exercise regularly and eat healthy food to control PCOS/PMOS. I have lost approximately 11 pounds in the last year, and now I am at 127.8 pounds. When I did not get periods for four months, I took Medroxyprogesterone to get periods. It is two months from my last period, and I have not gotten my period yet.

Is there any medication in Ayurveda that would be beneficial to induce periods and any medicines that are helpful?

Can you help me with this?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your case details, and I understand your issues.

There are several medicines available in Ayurveda for your concern. Time elapsed for healing depends on the size of cysts. Get an ultrasound of the abdomen, complete blood count, and thyroid profile tests are done. I suggest you continue your yoga practices.

I suggest you take tablet Charak hyponidd (Yashad bhasma with purified asphaltum) twice daily before food along with lukewarm water, Charak M2-Tone Syrup (Ashoka with Ashwagandha) two teaspoons twice daily before food, and tablet Kanchanar guggulu (Kanchanar, Haritaki, Bibhitaka) twice daily after food with lukewarm water. Consult your doctor and take the medicines accordingly.

Avoid spicy and fried foods. Drink a lot of lukewarm water. Practice Kapalbhati pranayama regularly. Provide feedback after taking medications for a month, along with the investigation reports.

Thank you.

Investigations to be done

Investigations to be done include an ultrasound abdomen, thyroid profile, and complete blood count (CBC).

Treatment plan

The treatment plan includes: 1) Take the tablet Charak Hyponidd twice a day before food with lukewarm water. 2. Charak M2-Tone Syrup 10 ml twice a day before food. 3. Tablet Kanchanar guggulu twice a day after meals with lukewarm water.

Preventive measures

Avoid spicy and fried junk foods. Drink plenty of lukewarm water. Do kapalbhati pranayama regularly.

Regarding follow up

Do these things and provide your feedback after one month along with the investigation reports.
