Please suggest how to take fever nut to manage PCOD.

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been diagnosed with PCOD for the past two years. I took many medicines but had no luck. Though I have been on a healthy diet and exercised regularly for the past two years, I am experiencing irregular periods (not all months, but month after month, my menstrual cycle is irregular). I am frustrated right now. I recently took fever nut (Kalarchikai powder) powder (1/4 teaspoon) two times a day in warm water daily before breakfast and dinner. But I felt that my stomach was upset after consuming it. Can you please suggest how to take fever nut for PCOD?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have seen your case details and understand your issues.

PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease) is curable naturally through changes in food patterns, physical activities, and after taking some Ayurvedic medicines under the guidance of Ayurveda physicians. Kalarchikai (Caesalpinia bonducella) is one of the potent herbs that can cure PCOD. Kalarchikai must be consumed after food as it may cause abdominal discomfort, so you should take it before eating. You can take its Kwath (decoction) too.

I hope that you get your answer.

Please let me know if you want some help.

Thank you.

The Probable causes

PCOD is mainly caused by the intake of oily, spicy, and fried junk foods, lack of physical activities, stress or anxiety, hormonal imbalances, etc.

Investigations to be done

Investigations to be done include: 1. Ultrasound whole abdomen. 2. Thyroid profile. 3. Complete blood count (CBC). 4. Blood sugar (both fasting and post-prandial). 5. Lipid profile.

Probable diagnosis

The probable diagnosis is PCOD.

Treatment plan

There are several medicines available to manage PCOD, but they require suggested investigation reports and case details. Treatment varies from person to person. In general, Kuberakshadi vati, Kanchanar guggulu, Kalarchikai, and Pushpadhanwa ras are the standard medicines, but they should be taken under the supervision of an Ayurveda physician.

Preventive measures

You can prevent PCOD by avoiding oily and spicy food, quitting smoking and drinking habits, drinking lukewarm water, avoiding cold drinks, soft drinks, and ice cream, and regular meditation and pranayama.

Regarding follow up

Please do these things and provide your valuable feedback.
