This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had PCOD for the last ten years which progressed to hypothyroidism. I do not get my monthly menstrual cycle at all without medicines. I got into severe depression and emotionally unstable with high BP during the ovulation period.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I want to help you. PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease) causes irregular periods due to changes in hormone levels. It can be managed naturally through ayurvedic medicines and yoga practices, but it will take time at least three months. I suggest you to follow the instructions mentioned below.

  1. Avoid spicy and fried junk foods.
  2. Do regular kapalbhati and Mandukasana as well.
  3. Take tablet Kuberakshadi Vati (Sunthi, kalimirch, Pipal).
  4. Take tablet Hyponid (Yashad bhasma with purified asphaltum).
  5. Take tablet Kanchanara Guggulu (Kanchanar, Haritaki, Bibhitaka).
  6. Take tablet Arogyavardhini Vati (Shuddha Parada, Shuddha Gandhak, Loha Bhasma). Kindly consult your doctor, and take the treatment with consent.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

Will the above medicine regularize my menstrual cycle?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq. com.

I have seen your attachment (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). T4 level is raised; however TSH level is below the normal range. It indicates you are taking an overdose of thyroxin. You should reduce your thyroxin Dose. Do regular kapalbhati Mandukasana and Ardhamatsyendrasana as well as pranayana like anuloma vilom nadi sodhan Ujjaai and bhramari. Avoid spicy and fried junk foods. Thyroxin produced by the thyroid gland is a feedback mechanism. When T3 and T4 level decreases in the body our pituitary gland releases TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) which stimulates the thyroid gland to produce sufficient T3 and T4. After taking thyroxin tablets, you are going towards hyperthyroidism. So be careful about it.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
