Is there an Ayurvedic treatment for recurrent pancreatitis?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 22-year-old male. Are there any Ayurvedic treatments for pancreatitis? I have had six recurrent pancreatic attacks in the last three years.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

As you are aware, there are many reasons for recurrent pancreatitis, including alcohol consumption, viral infections, autoimmune conditions, etc. You can discuss the following medications with an Ayurvedic physician nearby and use them with their consent:

  1. Karisalai karpam tablets or Heptowin tablets: Take two tablets in the morning, two at noon, and two in the evening after food. These are pure herbal.
  2. Kaasukatti tablets: Take two pills in the morning, two at noon, and two in the evening after food. These tablets are chewable or can be swallowed with water. They are also pure herbal.
  3. Kantha chendooram: Take 100 mg mixed with honey and drink twice a day (morning and evening) after food. This preparation is made from magnet and herbs.

All these medications should be taken for six months. You may notice a difference within 20 days of starting the first dose. Continue for six months, then you can stop. If your pancreatitis is due to an autoimmune cause, you will need to take the following additional medications:

  1. Rasaganthi mezhugu capsule: Take one capsule in the morning and one in the evening after food.
  2. Poorna chandrodayam tablet: Take one tablet in the morning and one in the evening after food.

These two drugs help reduce autoimmunity in your body and enhance your immunity. We use these in our practice. They should be continued for three months, followed by a one-month break. Then, resume for one month, followed by another one-month break.

Once you start, you should see improvement within a week. If you have any questions while taking these medications, please feel free to contact me.

Thank you.
