Can Ayurvedic medicine help regulate the menstrual cycle?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been suffering from PCOS and thyroid issues for the past year. I started taking ayurvedic medications with castor oil nine months ago. I was taking homeopathic pills, which did not show any good results. My primary concern is that I have irregular periods, and I am planning for the family. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I suggest you take aloe vera-based drugs like Kumaryasava (Aloe barbadensis, Syzygium aromaticum, Terminalia chebula, Woodfordia fruticosa, Myristica fragrans, Nardostachys jatamansi, Ricinus communis, Piper cubeba, jaggery, and water) and Rajahpravartini Vati (Kanyarasa, Green Vitriol, Borax, Ferula Asafoetida, and aloe vera). It can regulate your hormones and periods (consult a specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take medications with their consent). It may take two to three months to regularize your uterus and ovary. Simultaneously, I suggest you take allopathic drugs for thyroid issues. The thyroid hormone should be normalized to become pregnant. You may also practice pranayama regularly. Please continue these medications for three months for a good result. During this time, you can try for conception. After three months, I suggest you get tested for PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome).

I hope this helps.

Please revert so I can assist you further.

Thank you.
