Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 25 years old and have been using a menstrual cup for my periods. I wanted to know whether it is safe to use. I have read about the flow of energy during periods. Will wearing a menstrual cup cause long-term health issues? Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read the query, and I can understand your concern.

Menstrual cups are of two types: disposable and nondisposable. You can reuse nondisposable cups after washing them properly. These are safe to use but with some precautions, like changing them every four to six hours except at night. Because while you sleep, you cannot change them frequently. Insert and remove them properly. Do not insert or remove forcefully. If you feel irritation or itching, do not use it. With all these things in mind, you can use it. However, if you are still unsure, use a sanitary napkin in the final days of your period when the flow is decreased. When the flow is more, use a menstrual cup.

I hope this will help you. For more queries, you can consult further.

Thank you.
