Can a low body weight cause scanty menstruation?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am around 20 years old and weigh 85.98 Ibs with scanty menstruation. Is this due to my low body weight? Is there any Ayurvedic medicine to increase body weight and cure the problem? Are there any home remedies to cure the issue? Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Scanty menstruation may occur due to hormonal imbalance. You should be conscious about your diet and lifestyle. Avoid taking junk food, spicy food, and broiler chicken. Eat more green leafy vegetables like broccoli, spinach, drumstick, and curry leaves. Have a habit of doing simple exercises and meditation at home. Drink pomegranate juice every day for three months mixed with palm sugar. Eating a protein-rich diet will increase your body weight. Drink milk with one teaspoon of ghee or butter daily for healthy weight gain. I would suggest the following medicines:

  1. Rajapravartini Vati (Ghritkumari, Kaseesa, Tankana) is available twice daily after eating.
  2. Amycordial syrup (Shatavar, Vasa Patr, Majuphal) two teaspoons twice daily after food.
  3. Draksharishtam (Draksha, Twak, Ela, Patra) is two teaspoons after food twice daily.
  4. Narasimha Rasayanam (Shimshipa, Asana, Shiva, Vella) one teaspoon twice daily after food.
  5. Kushmanda Rasayana (Ash gourd, Long pepper, Ginger, Cumin): one teaspoon twice daily after food.

I hope this helps.

Please revert so I can assist you further.

Thank you.
