Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My wife is 48 years old. She is a school teacher. Recently she has been complaining of knee pain while climbing the stairs of her school. She feels the pain while squatting also. At home also, when she sits with her legs folded for a long time, she finds it difficult to stand quickly and complains of painful cramps at the back of her knees. This condition becomes normal after half an hour, and she can walk normally. Please suggest me something like yoga, which may cure her completely.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query. There are many causes of knee pain. Some of the reasons are,

  1. Osteoarthritis can cause swelling, knee weakness, and increased pain in the morning. Some kinds of crepitus sound from the knee may occur.
  2. Tendonitis causes pain at the base of the kneecap and may also lead to swelling or a burning sensation in the kneecap.
  3. Gout.
  4. Rheumatoid arthritis.
  5. Dislocation.
  6. Inflammation of the joint.

Above are common causes of knee pain at this age. I will suggest some medicines you can buy from any Ayurvedic store and follow for two weeks.

  1. Maharasnathi tablet (Rasna (Alpinia officinarum), Bala (Sida cordifolia), Erandamula (Ricinus communis)) - 2-0-2 before food
  2. Guggulutiktaka arishtam (Neem, Patola, Vyaghri) - 1 fl oz twice daily after food.
  3. Yogaraja Guggulu (Chitraka, Pippalimoola, Yavani) - 2-0-2 after food
  4. Karpooradi thailam (Karpoora, Ajmoda, coconut oil) and Murivenna (Moringa leaves, Indian shallots, Indian beech, Aloe vera, and Asparagus)- Mix the above two oils in equal amounts. Gently heat the oil, soak it in a cotton pad, and apply overnight over the knee. It will help to reduce pain.

Preventive measures

1. Avoid spicy foods. 2. Apply heat to the affected area. Heat increases blood flow so that we can reduce the inflammation. 3. Gentle massage with the same oil in the daytime.

Regarding follow up

Follow these and revert me after two weeks.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
