How can itching and rashes be treated through Ayurveda?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My mother is a 58-year-old female, and she has itching and rashes all over her body. She is taking allopathic medicine from a skin specialist but it has side effects. Can you suggest any ayurvedic medications?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

This is an allergy to some medicine or food else. Take the following medicines regularly and report after three weeks but you require treatment for four to six months. I suggest the following:

  1. Take Haridrakhand Churna (Haridra, Triphala, Trikatu, Nisoth) one teaspoon twice after food.
  2. Mahamanjisthadi Kwath (Ananthamoola, Daruharidra, Devdaru), one tablespoon twice after food, and Triphala churna (Amlaki, Haritaki, Vibhitaki) one teaspoon at bedtime with warm water.
  3. Apply coconut oil two teaspoons and half a teaspoon of Bhimseni Kapur (pure camphor) on itching and red spots at night daily for three weeks.
  4. Avoid non-vegetarian food, cold beverages, and fried rice.

I hope this has helped you.

Thank you.
