How does eating bricks affect the uterus?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 26-year-old female. Will eating bricks affect the uterus? I do not have any side effects other than early periods. In the last two cycles, my periods were five days earlier. Please explain.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

People eat chalk piece or brick or sand due to the craving on it. This is due to anemia. Your hemoglobin (Hb) should be estimated and iron therapy should be given. Eating bricks never harm you and never affects the uterus system.

But it may lead to infection and diarrhea. If the brick contains metals from the soil, such as aluminum or silica, it could cause metal toxicity. Any changes in menstrual periods are likely due to iron deficiency, not because of eating bricks. To improve hemoglobin, you can take Punarnavadi Mandur (containing Punarnava, Trivrit, Shunti, and Maricha), two tablets in the morning and two in the evening, around 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further.

Thank you.
