Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I had viral fever six months ago, and I received injections in both buttocks to treat it. However, I am currently experiencing pain in the injected area. I am wondering why this is happening and what I can do to alleviate the pain.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Thank you for stopping by at icliniq.com.
I am here to provide expert opinion on your medical issues. The initial pain at the injected site is likely due to a local reaction. However, if the pain has persisted for six months, it may be attributed to fibrous myopathy, which is characterized by muscle fiber damage resulting from repeated intramuscular injections. Another possible cause of the pain could be nerve damage caused by repetitive injections. I suggest you consult a physician who can accurately diagnose the underlying cause. Once the cause is determined, appropriate treatment can be provided instead of generalized pain management. In the meantime, you can try cold sponging at home two to three times a day.
I hope this has helped you.
Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.
Thank you.
