How can Ayurvedic medicines help manage hypothyroidism?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 25 years old, my weight is 182.98 pounds, and my height is 5 feet 5 inches. I have been dealing with Hashimoto's and PCOD for the last six months. Can I take Navaka guggulu tablets? If so, can you suggest the dosage? Currently, I am taking Thyroxine 150 mcg and calcium and vitamin D3 supplements three times a week.

Please suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

This is a condition of hypothyroidism, which can lead to PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease). It can be managed through Ayurvedic medicine and yoga practices, and recovery may take three to four months. You can take Navaka guggulu (which includes shuddha guggulu, kali mirch, and sonth), two tablets twice a day with warm water after meals. You may also take Hyponidd (containing vijaysaar, karavellaka, haridra, amalaki, neem, and meshashringi), two tablets twice a day along with Navaka guggulu.

Additionally, practice kapalbhati and mandukasana regularly. Pranayama practices such as anuloma viloma, nadi shodhana, bhramari, and ujjayi are very effective for these issues and can aid in quicker healing.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
