Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have hypothroidism. My thyroid stimulating hormone is 8.33, triiodothyronine (T3) is 108 and thyroxine (T4) is 102. Can it be cured with ayurveda and I have read a few cases where they were cured by ayurveda. I do not want to continue with synthetic hormone for the rest of my life.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

Hypothyroidism is a hormonal disorder. The probable cause for hypothyroidism was thyroid gland which does not able to produce sufficient amount of T3 and T4 in blood. This is a feedback mechanism of pituitary gland and thyroid gland. Pituitary gland produces more thyroid stimulating hormone to maintains the level of triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4) in blood to normalize the range. It can be managed naturally through ayurvedic medicines and yoga techniques can help to regulate your metabolism and manage thyroid to normal range. I suggest you avoid spicy and fried junk foods. Quit smoking and drinking if you have these habits. Do regular asanas and breathing excercises such as kapalbhati, Mandukasana, Nadi Shodhan or Anuloma Viloma (alternate nostril breathing), Bhramari Pranayama and Ujjayi Pranayama.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
