Can ayurvedic treatment help to cure incisional hernia?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 36-year-old woman who has been suffering from an incisional hernia for six to seven months due to previous surgery. I do not wish to get the surgery done again as I have twin babies, just one year old. I need Ayurvedic treatment for the same. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

An unhealed wound causes an incisional hernia. Due to weight, abdominal strain, and chronic constipation, lifting heavy weights might open previously unhealed surgical wounds. Therefore, you should follow some precautions to prevent the further development of the wound.

1. Always bear an abdominal belt.

2. Try to lose weight.

3. Eat fibrous foods and fruit to prevent frequent constipation.

4. Avoid strain during defecation.

5. Avoid spicy and fried junk foods.

6. Do not carry or lift heavy weights.

7. Drink plenty of water.

I suggest,

1. Medohar Vati (Amla, Baheda, Harad, and Guggul shuddha) two tablets.

2. Lakshadi Guggulu (Nagbala, Sudh Guggulu, Laksha, Jarjor, Arjun, and Ashwagandha) one tablet.

3. Kaishore Guggulu (Gokshuru, Amruta, Guduchi, Tryushana, Vidanga, Danti, Trivrit, Ghrita, and Trikatu) one tablet with warm water after meals. Also, take Abhayaristam (Abhaya and Draksha) one tablespoon twice a day with equal water after meals. Consult your doctor and take the medicines accordingly.

Do these things and provide your valuable feedback.

I hope you find it helpful.

Regards.
