Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I wanted to know the benefits of Giloy. Can it prevent cancer? Western medicine has no answer to many viruses such as HPV. What is the effect of Giloy on our immune system? Is it immensely good? Also, is there any way to detoxify one's body through Ayurvedic herbs?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Giloy or Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) is a very important herb in Ayurveda. Giloy has a sphere of action. Generally, it improves the immunity of a person and bears antipyretic and anti-inflammatory properties. HPV (human papillomavirus) infection is a very common cause of cancer nowadays. Poor immunity and unhealthy habits make a person more prone to such infections. Giloy is a wonderful ayurvedic medicine that improves immunity and prevents many diseases, but it should be taken under medical supervision. As far as detoxification is concerned, ayurvedic panchakarma procedures have more effects on detoxification.
Patient's Query
Thank you doctor,
HPV could be a cause of cancer but that rarely happens as far as I read. Is it possible to get rid of this virus completely?
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Giloy is an immunomodulating medicine which is actually needed to fight or prevent viral infection. No research studies have been done so far that establish the removal of HPV with ayurvedic medicines. But, many studies are going on to observe the effect of Ayurvedic medicines as an adjuvant therapy for cancer patients. HPV (human papillomavirus), herpes, and other viruses stay in the body for a long duration. The use of such immunomodulating medicines actually decreases the viral load and prevents as well as minimizes the intensity of such viral infections.
