Can Ayurvedic medicines help cure urinary issues?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 23-year-old male with a weight of 143 pounds and a height of 5 feet 4 inches. I am experiencing frequent urination, sometimes to the extent that I need to use the restroom every five minutes, especially before going to sleep. Additionally, I have noticed that when I abstain from masturbation for a few days, the problem subsides to a normal level. Normally, I masturbate at least once a day, and sometimes twice.

I consulted a urologist and underwent a urine culture and abdominal ultrasound, but nothing unusual was found. My blood sugar level is also normal, at 89 to be precise.

Please advise.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

This problem may be due to weak bladder muscles. I suggest practicing Kegel exercises, which will help strengthen your bladder muscles. Walk daily for at least 30 minutes to increase pelvic blood flow. Additionally, practicing Trikonasana and Malasana can be beneficial, as these yoga postures are good for your condition. Try to train your bladder to void at regular intervals, such as every two hours, and work on controlling the urge to urinate until you can hold it. Avoid consuming too many liquids after 6 p.m. and steer clear of alcoholic and caffeinated beverages. Consuming sesame seeds with jaggery three times a day may help control frequent urination.

I recommend taking amla (Emblica officinalis) tablets, two tablets twice a day with water after meals, for one month. Also, take Sukumaram kashayam (punarnava, dasamoola, and kashmarya) tablets, two tablets twice a day with water before meals, for one month. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss these recommendations with them, and take the above medicines only with their consent. Additionally, try to incorporate pumpkin seeds into your daily diet.

Follow up in one month. These measures should help improve your condition significantly.

Thank you.
