Hi,

I appreciate you signing up on icliniq.com.

You now have exclusive access to expert medical opinion.

I just read your query. The cuts on the tongue (usually called fissures) are divided broadly into two categories, deep and shallow. There can be many reasons for these fissures. I am advising some general measures to get rid of these.

1. These could be due to Vitamin B complex deficiency. This is the most common reason for a fissured tongue. To compensate for vitamin B deficiency, take food rich in this vitamin like milk, and milk products including curd, cheese, etc. along with eggs, beans, green leafy vegetables, and whole grains. You can also take capsules of Vitamin B complex, taking one capsule twice a day for seven to ten days. You can also take these capsules after consulting a general practitioner.

2. Drink plenty of water, because sometimes it can occur due to dehydration.

3. Avoid excessive spicy food. Do not take too many hot products, as these will irritate the tongue.

4. Avoid smoking, as it can aggravate the problem.

5. Maintain oral hygiene. Brush twice daily. You can also use mouthwash once a day to maintain oral hygiene.

6. Use some herbal remedies to get rid of this problem. Apply lavender oil directly on the tongue twice a day. This will help to heal the fissures. Apply aloe vera gel directly on the tongue twice a day. It has a soothing property and hydrates the tongue too.

Try all these regularly, and you will see positive results very soon. In case you do not find any relief within three to four weeks, then this might be due to some sort of infection. In that case, consult a nearby general physician and take the appropriate treatment.

Now come to your second problem. You have had rosacea on your face since birth. As this is present since birth and if it is not increasing, it might be an inborn hyperpigmentation. You can use remedies to lighten this pigmentation. Try following things.

1. Take Charak even-shade cream (anti-pigmentation), and apply this cream twice a day on the affected area after cleaning the face. This will help to lighten the pigmentation. You will feel positive results within four weeks.

2. Do not go to sunlight directly, as sunlight promotes more melanin formation, which causes hyperpigmentation. Apply a sunscreen lotion half an hour before going to sunlight. Even if it is cloudy outside, do use a sunscreen. You can take any other sunscreen lotion from a reputed company.

3. As I mentioned earlier do not smoke if you do, and drink plenty of water. This will help in maintaining skin health.

Try all these regularly and you will see positive results very soon.

In case it is permanent hyperpigmentation of the skin, it will not be cured with the external application of medication. Do consult a dermatologist then, and you can opt-out for modern techniques like laser therapy.

I hope that you get your answer.

Please let me know if you want some help later.

Thank you.

Regarding follow up
