Endometrial Thickening

The inner lining of the uterus (endometrium) becomes thickened, when there is excess production of estrogen with an absence of progesterone. Progesterone is responsible for the shedding of the endometrium during menstruation. In the lack of which, the endometrium does not get shed and becomes thick.
