Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I was healthy and fine in the past having adequate sleep for six to seven hours. Until recently when I noticed a few symptoms like sleeping for 10 to 11 hours, a blocked nose on one side, loss of memory, and depression. I also tried neti pot and sesame oil in the nose. Do the symptoms relate to the deviated septum? Is surgery the only option in that case?
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to Icliniq.com.
I am here to provide expert opinions on your medical issues. Each symptom that is mentioned is related to certain conditions. A deviated nasal septum can be the reason for nasal blockage. But that does not always require surgery. The extent of nose blockage and troubled breathing determines the need for surgery. The body can be affected easily by allergies and colds along with frequent sneezing episodes. I suggest you visit a nearby doctor to confirm this issue. Endoscopy (examination of the internal nose with cameras) will be performed if required and depending on the examination report, the necessity of surgery can be known. Consider visiting another doctor for a second opinion if you are not satisfied with the treatment option. Alternate therapies like ayurveda, homeopathy, or naturopathy can also be opted if it is not an emergency condition. Surgery for a deviated nasal septum is not a major surgery that one has to be worried about. I suggest you do the following.
I hope your questions were answered.
Thank you.
