Is sudden stomach pain after taking Ponnaavaarai chooranam normal?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

We gave our daughter Ponnaavaarai chooranam to relieve constipation. However, she suffers from sudden bouts of intense stomach pain after this, even after stopping the medication. Is this normal? Is there a remedy for stomach pain? Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I just read your query. Sometimes, it happens after giving this choice. Stop giving it till she gets relief from stomach pain. Take half a teaspoon of fennel seeds, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, and a pinch of hing (asafoetida) and boil it in one glass of water. When half the water remains, then stop boiling. Add some rock salt to it and give this water to your daughter for stomach pain. It is helpful in relieving stomach pain. You can give it two to three times a day. You can also use the Triphala churnam (Amlaki, Haritaki, Vibhitaki) or Triphala tablet for constipation. They are milder than this chooranam, and the chances of stomach pain are lesser.

In case of any emergency, you can visit your nearby Ayurveda physician.

I hope this helps.

Please revert so I can assist you further.

Thank you.
