Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am having extreme constipation. Also, I am taking the tablet Clonazepam for a brain lesion for the last 30 years.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I went through your query and understood your concern.
There are several causes of constipation. Some of them are smoking, drinking alcohol, eating more oily and spicy junk foods, sedentary lifestyle, lack of fiber in food, lack of exercise, neurological disorders, overweight, indigestion, liver disorders, stress and depression, and side effects of medications. Sometimes, it can be idiopathic. Bowel evacuation occurs when peristalsis movement is stimulated through intestinal wall pressure. In some individuals, it does not happen easily. Then, it requires certain medications and yoga practices to relieve constipation.
I suggest you the following instructions mentioned below,
1. Avoid spicy and fried junk foods.
2. Quit smoking and drinking if you have these habits.
3. Drink plenty of warm water.
4. Eat fibrous foods, fruits, and green leafy vegetables.
5. Do Yoga, especially Kapalbhati, Mandukasana, and Ardhamatsyendrasana, regularly in the morning on an empty stomach. Yoga helps regulate your metabolism, appetite, and bowel movement.
6. I suggest you take laxative medicines like Panchasakara Churna (Ginger, Rock salt, Myrobalan, Fennel seeds), three grams twice daily. Mix it with warm water and consume it after meals. I also suggest you take Abhayarishtam (Haritaki, Vidanga, Madhuka Kusuma) one tablespoon. Mix it with equal water and consume it twice a day after meals.
Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them, and take the medications with their consent.
I hope this has helped you.
Thanks and regards.
