Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 22 years old. I have been suffering from a cough and cold for the last few days. I took some medicine, which relieved my cough but not cold, and now I have ear pain also. Kindly suggest what can be done.
Please guide.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern.
Ear, nose, and throat are all connected through a common tube, so whenever you get an infection of one and do not get proper treatment, there is a possibility of spreading the infection to another part. As you have been suffering from a cough and cold for the last few days, the ear pain might be due to the cold. As you did not mention your previous history of allergies whether you have any issues like nasal polyp, DNS (deviated nasal septum), or some other problem related to the ear previously this may affect your treatment. Coming to your present complaint. As you have already taken medicine for cold and cough if you have taken it for seven to ten days for a complete cure, ear pain might be associated with it. I suggest you consult a nearby physician for ear pain. If it is mild and only due to a cold then he will prescribe you a simple painkiller to get rid of it. If he finds it severe then he might do a local examination. But ear pain due to cold will be relieved within one to two days as your cold relieves.
I suggest you to follow the following:
I hope you are satisfied with my answer.
Thank you.
