Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had a big problem with cold things such as cold air, cold foods, and cold drinks for the past many years. My nose starts getting dry, and congested, and I start coughing. I suffer from a mild headache, sometimes fever, and a greenish-whitish discharge from my nose. I had even tried homeopathy which gave me initial relief, but then stopped working. What to do?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query.

As per your history of cold sensitivity, I suggest you follow the instructions mentioned below.

1. Air conditioner air makes the nose dry and in some people, its intensity is higher as compared to others. So if you are using AC at home, then keep a bowl of normal water in the room. Whenever you go outside in an AC environment, try to wear a mask to cover your nose and mouth.

2. Wear full-sleeved clothes while going out in the AC environment. In summer, you can wear cotton clothes having full sleeves.

3. Also, wear a cap so that direct air will not fall on your head.

4. At home try not to sit or sleep directly under a fan. Keep some distance.

5. Take steam inhalation regularly two to three times a day. Add two to three drops of Eucalyptus oil in water. It will help you with dry nose and nasal discharge.

6. Take three to four Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum) leaves daily in the morning after washing them.

7. Take half a teaspoon of honey before going to bed. But make sure to keep some time gap between your food or any other eatable while having honey in the nighttime.

8. Prepare an Ayurvedic concoction and take it daily one to two times a day. It will help you in your cold sensitivity and also help in increasing immunity. Take one glass of water and heat it on a low flame. Add two to three Tulsi leaves, one-fourth teaspoon of dry ginger powder, half a teaspoon of ]licorice powder, one-fourth teaspoon of cinnamon powder, a pinch of black pepper powder, and a pinch of long pepper powder. Heat it till half the water remains. You can add a little bit of jaggery powder or sugar to it for taste. Drink it daily one to two times a day.

9. Drink turmeric milk two to three times a week. Take one cup of milk and add half a teaspoon of turmeric powder in it and a pinch of black pepper in it.

10. Do gargles with lukewarm water.

Follow all these measures for two weeks and you will feel better results soon.

Consult a nearby Ayurveda physician after two weeks regarding improvement and for further management.

Hope it helps.

Stay safe and healthy.

Thanks and regards.
