Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had some upper respiratory issues for the past year. I used to have a cough and cold. I have reduced my sugar intake. My eyes are sensitive to water and light in the morning and cold weather. The mucous thickens and sticks at the back of my throat. I can control the latter part. I took vitamin D supplements and used a Flonase nasal spray. I took an ayurvedic medicine but cannot step out in cold weather. I have attached my laboratory reports. My blood sugar levels are high. I took the cough syrup for a few days, but my cough did not subside. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have reviewed your blood reports (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). In your blood reports, your eosinophils are slightly elevated. There is nothing to worry about. This indicates that some kind of allergy or inflammation is present in your body. Allergy is the body's defense mechanism against a foreign substance. For some people, seasonal allergies may occur. When the weather changes, it will reduce.

In most cases, it can be managed with antibiotics and antihistamines. The sad thing is that the cause of the allergy is unknown. In your case, we have to find the cause of the allergy. For that, the better way is to make a note about what all things trigger the allergic reactions, like dust and pollen, and try to avoid that. I am not sure whether these medicines are available in your country. I suggest you take the following medication (consult a specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take medicines with their consent):

  1. Tablet Dasamoola Rasayanam (Aeglemarmelos, Premnamucronata, Oroxylumindicum, Gmelinaarborea, Stereospermumsuaveolens, Desmodiumgangeticum, Uraricapicta, Tribulusterrestris, Solanumindicum, and Solanumxanthocarpum) one teaspoon in the morning and evening after food.
  2. Haridrakhandam (Gooseberry, Myrobalan, Tropical almond, Nutgrass, and Caltrop.) one teaspoon three times daily after food.
  3. Tablet Dasamoolakatutrayam (Dashamoola, Trikatu, Vasa) twice daily before food.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
