What is the treatment to alleviate burning sensation in the anus?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had a burning sensation in the anus for the past few days. I have stopped being a non-vegetarian and avoided drinks for the past week. Presently I am taking vegetarian food, buttermilk, and two times coconut water with lemon. This happens to me once a year or twice every two years. Please suggest some immediate remedy as I am not able to bear the burn.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understand. I suggest the following for relief:

1. Streamline diet and lifestyle - focus on a balanced Mediterranean diet preferably, with adequate intake of water and roughage. Take at least eight to ten glasses of water daily. Exercise (walking being the safest) in clean or open air for at least 30 to 45 minutes daily.

2. Restrict flesh foods like chicken, and eggs, as all these are likely to worsen constipation and consequently complicate fissures, if any, still.

3. High-calorie foodstuffs including sweets, cakes, pastries, greasy, oily, hot or spicy and fast foods are best avoided too. Red meat, if any, is to be avoided completely.

4. Take a glass of freshly prepared juice made of ripe bael fruit, honey (one tablespoon), black pepper, cardamom, etc., daily evening.

5. Take freshly prepared buttermilk to which half tsp of fresh turmeric powder is mixed properly, once daily.

6. Pilex ointment (Himalaya herbals) - to be applied topically at the anus (with the clean applicator) - one to two times daily, before and after passing stool, for the next week.

7. Herbolax (Himalaya) - two caps, once daily post-dinner, for 15 days.

Hope this helps you get better soon. Thank you.
