This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am struggling with ongoing side effects from breast cancer treatment. Neuropathy, fatigue, and cognitive changes are affecting both my work and personal life. My oncologist says these are normal, but I do not feel like anything about this is normal. Are there management strategies or therapies that can help me regain my quality of life? The chemotherapy and radiation are really taking a toll on my spirit, and I do not know what to do. How can I cope with this?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concerns and would like to help.

As an Ayurvedic physician, I understand that managing the side effects of breast cancer treatment can be challenging. Ayurveda offers holistic approaches to help alleviate these side effects and enhance your quality of life. Below are some strategies and therapies that may help you cope with neuropathy, fatigue, and cognitive changes.

  1. Ayurvedic diet and lifestyle: Follow a balanced and nutritious diet tailored to your body type (dosha) to support overall health. Include warm, cooked foods, fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, millet, and healthy fats in your meals. Avoid processed foods, refined sugars, and stimulants such as caffeine.
  2. Herbal remedies: Certain Ayurvedic herbs, have adaptogenic and rejuvenating properties. They can help reduce fatigue and improve cognitive function.
  3. Yoga and Meditation: Gentle yoga poses, breathing exercises (pranayama), and meditation can help reduce stress, boost energy levels, and enhance mental clarity.
  4. Abhyanga (Ayurvedic oil massage): Regular massage with warm herbal oils can improve circulation, alleviate neuropathic symptoms, and promote deep relaxation.
  5. Panchakarma therapy: Consider undergoing panchakarma, a detoxification and rejuvenation therapy in Ayurveda. This holistic treatment helps remove toxins, balance the doshas, and revitalize both body and mind.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
