What is the best Ayurvedic remedy for blurred vision?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 30 year old male. I am suffering from blurred vision. I could not focus properly. Also, I have dizziness and stiffness in the neck, which sometimes continues for the whole day. An MRI brain was done and it was normal. The blood tests including thyroid profile, LFT, KFT, vitamin D and B are also normal.

My doctor told me that it could be anxiety. I was under Allopathy treatment for three to four months and homeopathy treatment for four months, but I did not get much benefit. Now, I am not taking any medicine.

Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Since you have not mentioned your occupation, the nature of your work, your diagnosis, or the medications you have already taken, I am unable to pinpoint your condition. There are several possibilities:

  1. Eyesight problems: These can cause eye pain, headaches, neck pain, and vomiting. To address this, consult an ophthalmologist.
  2. MRI and other tests: If your MRI and other tests have ruled out brain and hormonal issues, then cervical spondylosis and disc bulging in the neck are unlikely.
  3. History of trauma: Consider whether you have experienced any falls or head injuries from childhood until now. Some post-trauma complications may not be visible on MRI or other tests.
  4. Siddha medicine: If there is a history of trauma, Siddha medicine might offer remedies such as varma therapy and varma drugs specifically for traumatic complications.
  5. Occupation and psychological factors: Factors such as continuous sitting, poor ventilation, low water intake, fasting, inadequate sleep, excessive sexual activity, mental stress, business pressure, family worries, and economic constraints can increase pitta (according to Ayurveda), leading to blurred vision and dizziness. High pitta is often linked to anxiety.
  6. Upper body strain: Excessive use of the upper body may also contribute to similar issues.

Here are some recommendations that may help for your blurred vision and neck issues:

  1. Apply sesame oil to your head for one hour, then bathe. Use Vilvathy thailam instead if available, or continue with sesame oil. This helps maintain normal body heat.
  2. Drink tender coconut water, curd, and buttermilk to reduce pitta.
  3. Take a warm body bath in the evening.
  4. Consume one spoon of Nannaari syrup three times daily on an empty stomach before meals.
  5. If you have any Ayurvedic oil, apply it to your neck and perform a gentle self-massage before sleeping to relax the muscles.
  6. Practice yoga and pranayama to support overall health.

I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at icliniq.

Thank you.
