What could cause occasional bleeding and mucus in stool?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 23-year-old male. I have had stomach problems for seven months. At first, I observed blood and mucus in my stool. The doctors detected it as an infection, and I first took allopathic medicine and then homeopathic medicine. At present, I have to go to motion two to three times a day, and I never feel satisfied. Mostly, I feel like going to the bathroom just after having my breakfast, which is the second time. I notice occasional blood and mucus now, which is like once or twice in two months. I took antibiotics last year and also homeopathic medicines. Is it Pitta dosha? If so, what can I do about it? I have read three to four articles on Pitta dosha that match my conditions. Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It seems like colitis. Its occurrence depends on food habits and lifestyle. It can be managed naturally through ayurvedic medicines. There is a need to take ayurvedic medicines regularly for three months under a controlled diet plan. I suggest taking Bilvavaleha (Bilva, Dhataki Flowers, Nagkesar) one spoon twice a day before food, Dadimastaka Churna (Vamsha, Patra, Cinnamon) 0.11 oz, and Kutajaghana Vati (Kutaja bark, Ativisha, Water) two tablets twice a day with warm water after meals. Consult your doctor and take medicines accordingly.

  1. Avoid spicy, fried, and junk foods.
  2. Avoid smoking and drinking if you have these habits.
  3. Avoid cold drinks, soft drinks, ice cream, etc.
  4. Avoid tea, coffee, milk, and milk products.
  5. Do regular Kapalbhati, Mandukasana and Ardhamatsyendrasana.

Try these for a month and get back to us with improvements.

I hope this helps.

Please revert so I can assist you further.

Thank you.
