Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 58 years old, and I am having a problem that I get a small cut on the foreskin of my penis. Though it gets fine in 2 to 3 days by applying Hydrocortisone cream and coconut oil, the main problem is it reoccurs after about 10 to 12 days. Sometimes I have serious irritation below the head of the penis. I am not diabetic. Please advise any ayurvedic ointment to get permanent relief or whatever you feel will be the best medication.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

This is a very common problem that many people face because the skin of the penis is very thin and sensitive in nature. The most common causes of cuts on the penile region are due to friction, scratching, being overweight, running, jogging, an exercise that involves repetitive movements, excessive masturbation, sexual intercourse, excessive sweating, or infection (infection may have many causes also). So try to rule out the exact cause so that you can avoid it. Also, adopt some common measures like after urination, wash the penis and dry it gently using a cotton cloth. Wear well-fitted, comfortable cotton undergarments. If you are overweight, then try to control your weight. Use Condoms while doing intercourse if you are indulged in sexual activity. I suggest you consult a doctor and take the following medications with their consent.

1) Take an anti-septic cream that has aloe vera and almond extract and apply it to your cuts 3 to 4 times a day.

2) Take a capsule of Manjistha (Rubia cordifolia) two times a day with water after food for three weeks.

3) Take a capsule of Haridra (Haridra, Triphla, Trikatu, Nisoth) two times a day with water after food for three weeks.

Apply coconut oil for half an hour before bathing on the penile region every day. It is better to take a bath with lukewarm water after the application of coconut oil. But in summer, normal water can also be used. If you have a fresh aloe vera plant around you, then you can also use its gel 2 to 3 times a week to keep the area moist. Take out some gel from the plant and apply over the penis and wash it away using simple water. Do all these things regularly, and you will see better results soon. Consult a nearby Ayurveda physician or me after two weeks regarding improvement and further management. If you still feel that there is no improvement, then you need to consult a skin specialist because it can be due to some infection that can be ruled out after a clinical examination.

Thank you.
