What Is Erectile Dysfunction (ED)

ED is defined as an inability to get or sustain an erection firm enough for sexual activity. In easy terms, it is a problem where the male partner is unable to keep the erection firm during sex.

Having trouble with an erection from time to time is not a cause for concern but if happens half the time then it is definitely a problem of ED.

Mechanism of Erection

Usually, the blood supply to the penis is normal. So, the penis is small and flaccid. But, during sexual arousal, the muscular chamber (corpus spongiosum) opens up and there is a rush of blood to the chamber which makes it hard. After sexual activities, the blood supply is normal again and it returns to the normal size.

Symptoms of ED

  1. Trouble to keep an erection.
  2. Decreased sexual desire.
  3. Low self-esteem.
  4. Performance anxiety.
  5. ED may affect the relationship between the partners.

Counseling for ED

Remedy with proper counseling is required in case of ED. But, in everyday clinical practice, we often see that people feel shy and are hesitant to talk about the ED problem which they are going through.

If you feel you have ED, I suggest you talk to your doctor openly about it and allow the doctor to find the probable cause and treat it. You do not need to silently suffer as medicines are available for this condition.

Homeopathic Management

In this system of medicine, as we treat the patient as a whole, in case of ED, we can easily treat the underlying cause, provide proper counseling to the couples and help them overcome this issue.
