Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had a green discharge in my underwear since yesterday. It also itches around my vagina. There is no burning sensation. I had a similar issue last year, but it included a burning sensation around the vagina. Additionally, after showering, I found it difficult to dry myself in that area because of the burning sensation. This lasted for at least a month because I did not consult a doctor. Due to religious reasons, I did not seek medical attention for the issue. I do not want a doctor to examine my private area, which was the reason for not seeking help. My last period was last month, and I am still waiting for my next period, which should come soon. I am currently taking a medication called Nurofen. What could be the cause of these symptoms? Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concerns.

Your symptoms are suggestive of vaginitis, which is mainly caused by a fungal infection. I suggest keeping the area dry and clean, drinking plenty of warm water, and following a soft diet. You should use antifungal medication and cream for topical application. It is recommended to wear cotton undergarments and consume more curd while reducing sugar intake. Avoid washing the vagina frequently with water. Additionally, please check your blood sugar levels. If you are sexually active, we should also rule out any sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) by conducting an STD panel. Your period may be delayed due to hormonal imbalance or vaginitis. Please wait and observe your menstrual cycle.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
