Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 24-year-old female who is 5 feet 3.5 inches. And I need help diagnosing my problem. I have been sick for one whole week, and I have taken cough medicine and a little bit of natural bronchial mucus expulsion medicine, which has not worked on me. I am currently having issues with an annoyingly random impulsive cough that makes me cough, mostly green phlegms, which are horrible to deal with. They make me feel so horrible that I want to gag or vomit the phlegms out. It also prevents me from enjoying eating food in a pleasant way because I always get the attack and sleep. Nights are the worst because just as I thought I was sleeping peacefully, I felt like my body had become possessed. I even hear myself saying "Mhm" like I am talking and agreeing to something, and then, suddenly, I get caught off from oxygen. I wake abruptly only to get up from bed and go to the bathroom to gag or cough out the big-medium-sized phlegms that can rarely be white or yellow but are mostly green. I had this problem persist for one whole week, and I drank lots of water but saw no improvement. I have not seen a doctor because my parents are hesitant and want to cure me naturally. I want to know the problem and the natural ways to cure it. I want to go back and sleep and eat well again. Please help.

I am currently taking SuperLysine immune support, Robitussin for cough and chest congestion DM, Magnesium spray, Blue star Medicated ointment, Emergen-C, hot honey with lemon drink, and tea.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

According to your symptoms, you have caught a respiratory tract infection, and more than a week has passed. Therefore a clinical examination is necessary to rule out any infection. The physician will hear your respiratory sounds with the help of a stethoscope, and then he will come to know about the disease because different kinds of sounds persist in different problems. After examination, he will also advise you whether you require some investigations to perform or not. So I suggest you consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take the medicines with their consent. So that you will get rid of this problem quickly, it is nothing serious, just a respiratory tract infection. But it would be best if you had a clinical examination. Only then can medicines be prescribed.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
