Lipomas occur subcutaneously and are benign, painless, and slow-growing adipose tissue tumors. Until lipomas cause cosmetic disfigurement, they need no surgical treatment. If they appear to be cosmetically unappealing, they can be best removed with surgical excision. This is done as a day procedure under local anesthesia.
