Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have had stomach aches for four to five days. I tried some home remedies, but they did not help at all. Now I am having diarrhea also. What should I do?
Thanks.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I am sorry to hear you are experiencing this discomfort. Here is a general approach to managing your condition:
Possible causes to consider:
Viral gastroenteritis (stomach flu): Often resolves within a few days with rest and fluids.
Food poisoning: May include diarrhea, nausea, and stomach cramps.
Indigestion or food intolerance: Certain foods can irritate your stomach.
Stress or anxiety: Can contribute to digestive upset.
Immediate self-care tips:
Hydration: Sip on fluids like water, oral rehydration solution (ORS), or coconut water to stay hydrated.
Diet: Stick to bland foods such as bananas, rice, toast, and yogurt.
Avoid: Spicy, oily, or heavy dairy foods until your stomach settles.
Rest: Give your body time to heal.
See a doctor if you notice:
Persistent vomiting or diarrhea lasting more than two days.
High fever.
Signs of dehydration (dry mouth, dizziness, and low urine output).
Blood in stool or vomit.
Severe abdominal pain or cramping.
Thank you.
