Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am five feet three inches tall, and weigh almost 12 stone. I have had a problem with my throat for a while. I have a cough that makes me choke for a while. When I eat, it is very sore. When I swallow, it feels like I have something stuck on one side. I have been eating cereal most of the time and cannot eat anything hard. At the very back of my throat, I can see circles of different sizes. They are flat and seem to be going down my throat. My voice comes and goes. I sometimes find it hard to speak.
Please help me.
Thanks.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
Thank you for sharing these details. I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing these concerning symptoms.
Your symptoms throat pain, a sensation of something being stuck, coughing and choking, changes in your voice, and the presence of circular, flat growths at the back of your throat, warrant prompt medical evaluation. While there are possible benign causes such as inflammation, infection (e.g., tonsillitis or pharyngitis), or acid reflux, the persistence and severity of your symptoms raise concern for more serious conditions, including the possibility of a throat mass or malignancy.
Given the following:
Persistent throat pain and difficulty swallowing.
Sensation of something being stuck in the throat.
Voice changes and difficulty speaking.Visible circular, flat growths in the throat.
I strongly suggest that you consult a doctor urgently, either your general practitioner or an ENT (ear, nose, and throat) specialist, for a comprehensive evaluation. This may include:
A thorough physical examination (including inspection of the throat and neck).Nasendoscopy (a flexible camera to examine the back of the throat and vocal cords).
Imaging studies (such as a CT scan, if indicated).
Biopsy of any suspicious lesions or growths.
In the meantime, please take the following precautions:
Avoid hard, spicy, or irritating foods.
Stay well hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids.
Refrain from straining your voice.
If your symptoms worsen, especially if you experience increased choking, difficulty swallowing, or trouble breathing, please seek emergency care immediately.
Please feel free to reach out with any updates or concerns. I would be happy to assist further.
I hope this answer helps you.
Thank you.
