Hello doctor,

I am 30 years old and just found out I am six weeks pregnant. I have struggled with recurrent major depression since my teenage years and currently take sertraline every day. I am terrified that stopping my medication could bring back severe symptoms, but I am also worried about whether it is safe for the baby. What is known about the safety of SSRIs during early pregnancy? Should I keep taking it or consider tapering off? Please help.
